Each of these chimpanzees was orphaned when hunters killed her or his mother for the illegal bushmeat trade.  They suffered physical and emotional pain when taken from their dead mother's body and sold into captivity. Many still have physical scars, some are disabled, and others still need time to heal emotionally.

At Sanaga-Yong Chimpanzee Rescue Center their spirits blossom.  IDA-Africa, with help from caring supporters, has given these individuals a second chance, an opportunity to grow and express themselves.  At Sanaga-Yong Center the chimpanzees become for each other the families who were stolen away from them.
