Happy New Year from IDA-Africa!
Jan 9, 2010

Thanks to your support, the chimpanzees at Sanaga-Yong Rescue Center are enjoying life! We all look forward to a Happy New Year.

The illegal ape meat trade continues to take the lives of the innocent, but the lives we save and the minds we change provide hope for the future.

Check out our Bush Telegraph for a review of 2009.

The nursery babies enjoy playing with bubbles!

Thank you Andrea!

Andrea Kozil, our dedicated Program Manager, for five years has accepted an exciting new teaching position.  Although we are very happy for her, she will be greatly missed!

New to IDA-Africa are Karin Cereghino, Program Manager and Kimber Huntington Webb, Development Director.  We look forward to "meeting" all of you - please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.  Thanks again Andrea for your incredible hard work over the years!

A Volunteer Plea to Help Arvid

We are looking for compassionate, patient and physically strong volunteers to be Arvid's caregivers.
Arvid is only five years old and sadly became ill with Meningitis this past November.  He nearly died and remained in a coma for several days.  With intensive treatment he survived, but was left largely paralyzed.

His prognosis is guarded, but we have high hopes for Arvid's recovery.  In his current condition he requires 24 hour care as he needs to be hand-fed, cleaned, entertained and kept company.

If you feel this is a commitment you could make please contact
karin@ida-africa.org.  Monetary donations for Arvid's continued care are also greatly appreciated!
Thank you
