RESCUE NOW. PROTECT THE FUTURE.
Saturday, September 12th was a lovely evening filled with friends, fun, compassion and dedication! Hosted at the exclusive University Club in downtown Portland, friends and family of the chimpanzees of Sanaga-Yong Rescue Center came together to celebrate the sanctuary and help to ensure the future of our special residents as well as the free-living chimpanzees of the beautiful surrounding Mbargue forest!
Highlights included a heartwarming presentation by founder, director and author Dr. Sheri Speede with classic footage from the early days of the sanctuary, and the English translation of our children’s book Je Protège les Chimpanzés (I Protect the Chimpanzees), a fundamental component of our education program in the schools of Cameroon.
We are very excited and thankful to have raised crucial funds for enclosure expansion at the sanctuary and forest protection for one of the most endangered sub-species of chimpanzees!
Most importantly it was our guests who truly made the evening magical as together we took a vivid journey to the sanctuary to celebrate our triumphs and share our vision for the future!
